2008: The Fifth Reef Hotel Casino Over 35s Rugby Tournament

The next annual Reef Hotel Casino Over 35s Rugby Tournament is scheduled for 19-21 September 2008. Another opportunity for old friends to meet up.

2007: The Fourth Reef Rugby Tournament September 2007

The 2007 tournament was a very successful event. The spirit the games were played, the venue, participants, special guests, volunteers and others made this year the most successful we have hosted. More like that to come.

Our special guests this year, besides our Patron John Lambie, included Tony Shaw (ex Wallaby Captain) and Mark "Cowboy" Shaw (ex All Black) who both entertained us all at the dinner on Saturday night with some wonderful stories and thought provoking comments.

An invitational team, the Brothers Old Boys, took the silverware home this year and we are sure they will be back to defend that trophy.

Teams this year included the Weathered Rams (Camden, NSW), Port Pirates (Port Douglas, QLD), Toothless Tigers (Brisbane, QLD), Thirsty Old Lions (Sunshine Coast, QLD) and lost but by no means least, the Derelicts from Gove, NT. We are sure that everyone had a good time and hope they will be back.

2006: 22 September 2006

We changed the format this year to only having games on one day. It was too hard for the fellows to back up for a second day of games. We welcomed 2 teams from NZ, Mt Roskill and Tauranga and returns for Jervis Bay and Guam. Port Douglas went off with the silverware this year and mentioned that they would be defending their title next year. Our tournament dinner was well attended and the food was great. Our emcee, John Lambie, who has attended all our tournaments so far, accepted our invitation to be the Patron of the Club. Our dinner guests were entertained by Peter Crittle, a high profile and well recognised ex President of the ARU.

2005: Reef Rugby Tournament September 2005

Our second tournament was a great success and everyone enjoyed the games and dinner. We did win our own tournament this year. There was a heavy fall out of players trying to back up on the second day. There were some injuries as well. We were very pleased to welcome teams from Jervis Bay (NWS), Manurewa (NZ) and Port Douglas. The Bustard Eagles from Brisbane also made a return trip. Three ex Wallabies were in attendance at the games and dinner. Our guest speaker was dual international, Ray Price, was well received and Adrian "Moose" Skeggs did some refereeing for us.
